CCA-treated wooden poles for farm fences
Wooden poles (typically CCA-treated gum poles) are a cheaper alternative to round steel posts on Veldspan and other farm fences. Use thicker poles at corners and straining points, and lighter poles as line supports between them. Veldspan does not need droppers. The vertical stay wires hold the mesh. Common stock lengths are 1.8 m, 2.1 m, 2.4 m, 2.7 m, 3.0 m, and 3.6 m. Allow about 600 mm in the ground, so a 1.2 m fence usually takes 1.8 m poles.
